Friday 3rd November and we held our annual church bonfire in Hatfield Woodhouse.
Here Gerard reports on the evening.
The bonfire was lit around 7:15pm and soon roared into a wonderful blaze. Soup was served and Andy (one of our Deacons and Youth Group Leaders) introduced our speaker Mark Harewood, Assistant Pastor from Bessacarr Evangelical Church.
Mark spoke about a young man, William Hunter, who in the days when it was illegal to read the Bible was caught doing just that. He stood for the truth in the face of the religious authorities of the day and was eventually burned at the stake. Mark asked about where our future hope is? In this world or were we like William who looked to Jesus and lasting treasures.
More food was served and then we were treated to a great show of fireworks. There were around 100 people who came to the event, many of whom were non-believers which was a great encouragement.
Special thanks to all who helped and supported in different ways. May God be pleased to use these bridges to connect more people to the truth in Jesus Christ.
