We continue to hold our morning worship in our church as well as live-streaming on our YouTube channel from 10:45am. Attendance will be limited in numbers, done under strict Covid Safety Guidelines, and seats will be allocated to those who have pre-registered.
The evening service, which is also live-streamed on YouTube, now starts at 6pm. As usual the audio for both sermons will be available on our website from the Monday.
Our services today are led by Tom Reston.
Although working for the BBC meant being moved around quite a few times during his 30 years career, Tom still managed to take an active role as a Youth Leader and Elder. When he took early retirement he became the full-time Pastor of South Tenerife Christian Fellowship for ten years. Tom is a member of DEC has since taken on the role of Itinerant Preacher travelling with his wife Eileen.
Do we know our own weaknesses?
2Timothy 4:3-5 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
Tom continues to consider the characteristics of discipleship we need to have in our own lives if we are to be able, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to go and make disciples of others. We must rely on God for our effectiveness rather than on ourselves. God uses our weaknesses not only to develop Christian character but to deepen our understanding of God, because in admitting our weakness we affirm God’s strength.
How do we handle discouragement?
How do we handle discouragements in our efforts to make disciples? In the Christian life we battle against rulers and authorities – the powerful evil forces headed by Satan, who loves miserable downcast Christians – because he knows they can be ineffective in the cause of Jesus Christ. To withstand these attacks, we must depend on God’s strength and use every piece of His armour.
