Part of the Psalms series, preached at a Sunday Evening service

In modern medicine there are a whole lot of scans available from X-rays, MRI. PET, CT scans to angiograms and ECG scans. Today David shows his reaction to those who are wicked and wants God to scan his life to make sure he is not infected by anything offensive to God. Yet from this Psalm we have learned God knows all about us and our lives anyway! Are we ready for a God-scan on our lives and to let us know the results?

Psalm 139:19-24

19 Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God!
O men of blood, depart from me!
20 They speak against you with malicious intent;
your enemies take your name in vain!
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?
22 I hate them with complete hatred;
I count them my enemies.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting! (ESV)
