Reading: Philippians 4:4-13 Joy 3.
We continue our brief overview of joy and we will see three things:
1. There are degrees of joy – we are to realise our joy can vary in intensity, in different situations, even in the same situations as we have been in before. We can even lose our joy and so we need:
2. Maintaining and regaining our joy – various things can affect our joy and we need to joy, delight in the Lord and all He is and has done for us, as well as what He is doing and will do for us. We will look at some practical ways to maintain our joy. Yet if we lose our joy we need to go back to where we last had it and see what caused us to lose it and seek God again.
3. The cost to this joy – maintaining and developing this joy comes at a cost to us, as it did to our Saviour – who for the joy set before Him He endured the cross!
Reading: Jonah 3:1-10 The Message that changed everything.
Jonah obey God and went to proclaim the message of God in Nineveh. It was a successful preaching campaign and the whole city was affected as Jonah’s ministry caused conviction to all people there and they realised they deserved punishment from God. This caused the city’s population to greatly sorrow and brought about a changed behaviour from the greatest to the least. What about us as we hear God’s word proclaimed?
