The 6th saying from the cross, 'It is finished!' (John 19:16-37)

Rev Gareth JamesRev Gareth James, April 2, 2021
Part of the Easter series, preached at a Good Friday service

One writer said “These are the greatest and most momentous words that were ever spoken upon earth since the beginning of the world.” What words are they? It is Jesus’ 6th saying on the cross – only one word in the Greek, but in English reads “It is finished.” But what is finished? We will look briefly at some of the great things that are finished forever by Jesus on the cross and these will give us certain joy and confidence in our salvation. These words are the cry of triumph, the triumph of the Saviour and all He accomplished on the cross
