Called to Obey. (Jonah 3:2-3)

Rev Gareth JamesRev Gareth James, July 11, 2021
Part of the Jonah series, preached at a Sunday Evening service

Jonah was on dry ground and we saw the Lord gave him 1. The second chance (v1), but we will see the Lord then gave him 2. The same commission. (v2) – he still had to go to Nineveh and proclaim the same message. The drama at this point is would Jonah be ready to do so! We will see 3. The submissive obedience. (v3a) as he now goes and obeys the Lord – probably still with the same fears and concerns, but he now submits to God’s plans and commission. He did not know what lay ahead, but he trusts and obeys the Lord and does not run away. There are comforts and challenges for us – the Lord can use us even if we make a mess of things and we too have to obey Him. Are we ready to learn the lessons Jonah learned?
