From famine and foolish failure to a firm foundation. (Genesis 12:9-20)Rev Gareth James, September 25, 2022
Part of the Abraham in Genesis series, preached at a Sunday Evening service
Isn’t it really annoying – you have made your plans, everything seems to be going ok, then something unexpected happens and bang, things go pear shaped - you are confused, do not know what to do and everything seems a waste of time.
This can happen in so many areas of life to any one of us, at any time. In such a time we can often do or say things we could later regret. Often, thankfully, it doesn’t become public knowledge so we can live with it! The incident we will look at this evening regarding Abram and Sarai is one such occasion, but one that has been made known by God! The Bible is an honest book, it shows us great characters of faith, yet can show us their weaknesses and failures, as well as their strengths. We see them as they are - warts and all.
